Shota Miyoshi, a native of Japan, started to train in ballet and jazz at Nakura Jazz Dance Studio and Naoki Takagishi Ballet Studio when he was ten years old.He got first place in The National Jazz dance competition from 2015 to 2017. He joined the Nakura Jazz Dance company from 2013 to 2019 and performed with this company regularly in venues including the Aoyama Theater and the New National Theater of Tokyo.
He received his BFA in dance from SUNY Purchase College in 2022 where he studies ballet, modern techniques such as Graham, Cunningham and Gaga, improvisation, choreography, in addition to several different styles of dance. He is a recipient of Adapt-a-Dancer Scholarship 21-22 from SUNY Purchase College. Shota Miyoshi is working as a company dancer at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago since 2022. He has performed works by Aszure Barton, Matthew Rushing, Lar Lubovitch, Rena Butler, Rennie Harris, FLOCK, Johan Inger and more. He is part of cover page for Dance Magazine on August 2023.
As choreographer, his unique choreographic voices are displayed at Joffrey Ballet's Annual Winning Works 2025, New Dances 2025 hosted by Chicago Dance Works, Inside/Out Season 45, 46 and 47 hosted by Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.
